History, Cont.

More recently, I've had my interest piqued in digital preservation for two reasons: Wikipedia and video games .

I'm an active contributor to Wikipedia, and a lot of Wikipedia's citations depend on the Internet Archive and the Wayback Machine to ensure that they remain accessible and are preserved in the relevant form.

Aside from that, I'm a retro video game enthusiast. The problem is that, for most old video games, the systems and software they need to run aren't available anymore. That's where emulators come in, which make those games playable on modern computers. The work of preservationists that make these emulators and preserve the games make that possible. If it weren't for those people and the technology we use, those games could be inaccessible and lost to history.

Those two factors have helped me realize how important digital preservation and internet archival is to maintaining accurate information on the internet.
